Offer Description
A tender is open for the attribution of two Scholarships (type) within the scope of the R&D PRR Project - BioShoes4All - Innovation and Empowerment of the Footwear Sector for the Sustainable Bioeconomy (Investment TC-C12-I01 - Sustainable Bioeconomy, Integrated Project No. 11), funded by the European Union / Next Generation EU, under the Recovery and Resilience Plan, through the Environmental Fund, under the following conditions:
1. SCIENTIFIC AREA
Chemical Engineering
2. ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
First cycle degree of Chemical Engineering or similar. Research experience in the field of leather technology. Domain of portuguese and english languages.
Applicants must be enrolled in a master’s study plan or non degree granting course.
3. DURATION
The scholarship will last for 6 months, scheduled to probably start at middle of september 2025, and eventually renewable in accordance with the project's objectives and its budget, up to the limit established in the RBI-ISEP.
4. PURPOSE OF ACTIVITY / WORK PLAN
CIETI has a set of research lines, which includes process development, efluente treatment and waste recovery in the area of leather technology. The scholarship holders’ work plan should address this line of research with special relevance to sustainability, waste recovery and circular economy.
5. APPLICABLE LEGISLATION AND REGULATIONS
Research Fellowship Statute, approved by Law no. 40/2004, of 18 August; Regulation of Research Grants of the Foundation for Science and Technology, approved by Regulation no. 950/2019, published in the 2nd series - Part C, of the Diário da República, of December 16, 2019, Regulation of ISEP Research Grants, Decree-Law No. 66/2018, published in Diário da República No. 157/2018, Series I of 16 August, which approves the legal regime for the recognition of academic degrees and higher education diplomas awarded by foreign higher education institutions and Decree-Law No. 60/2018, of 3 August, which simplified administrative procedures necessary for carrying out research and development activities, all in their current wording.
6. SCIENTIFIC ORIENTATION AND WORKPLACE
The work will be developed at CIETI – Centro e Inovação em Engenharia e Tecnologia Industrial from Instituto Superior de Engenharia do Porto (ISEP), under the scientific guidance of Doctor António Alfredo Crispim Ribeiro, supported by Doctor Gilberto António Pinto, coordinator of the project, and by the reseachers Doctor Leonilde Cristina de Pinho Morais, Doctor Paulo Alexandre Pereira da Silva, and Doctor Maria Paula Neto Pimenta.
7. MONTHLY MAINTENANCE ALLOWANCE
Monthly scholarship value: € 1040,98, paid by bank transfer (according to the Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia table of values: https://www.fct.pt/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/Tabela_valores_SMM_2025.p… ), supported through the PAD's number C68352 e C68494.
8. METHODS OF SELECTION AND JURY COMPOSITION
The assessment should focus on and consider the following three components: academic based on the classification obtained in higher education (first cycle degree) with a weight of 50%; scientific work that includes previous experience in scientific or professional work related to the object of activity of this notice, and which will have a weight of 25%; and interview which will have a weight of 25%, with other factors to be considered by the jury..
The jury responsible for the selection process will consist of:
• Professor Doctor Gilberto António Pinto (President);
• Professor Doctor Leonilde Cristina de Pinho Morais (Member);
• Doctor António Alfredo Crispim Ribeiro (Member),
• and as an alternate member Professor Doctor Paulo Alexandre Pereira da Silva (Substitute member).
9. METHOD OF SUBMISSION OF APPLICATIONS
Applications must be formalized, obligatorily, by email sent to aar@isep.ipp.pt, The message subject should be “ref. CIETI-ISEP-BIOSHOES-BI jul 2025” and by sending the following documents:
• Curriculum Vitae;
• Motivation letter;
• Certificate of Qualifications / Document proving ownership of the academic degree and diploma, of the respective recognition when awarded by foreign higher education institutions or document proving the request for recognition.
• Proof of enrollment in one of the following study plans: master's degree or in a non-degree course;
• If the qualification has been granted by a foreign higher education institution, it must comply with the provisions of Decreto-Lei No. 66/2018, of August 16, and any formalities established therein must be fulfilled by the time of hiring.
• Other supporting documents considered relevant.
10. DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSION OF APPLICATIONS
Applications are received from July 23 to August 5, 2025.
11. METHOD OF ADVERTISING/NOTIFICATION OF RESULTS
The results of the evaluation will be announced via email, to the email address indicated in the application process.
12. CLAIM AND APPEAL PROCEDURES
If the result is unfavorable, the candidates have a period of 10 working days, after the disclosure of the results of the candidacy evaluation, to express their opinion, if desired, in the hearing of interested parties, under the terms provided for in the Code of Administrative Procedure.
A hierarchical appeal may be filed against the final decision referred to in the previous numbers, to the President of ISEP, within 15 working days after the respective notification.
13. SELECTION RESERVE (OPTIONAL)
The ISEP reserves the right to appeal to unselected candidates, in order of ranking, to hire a scholarship holder for the same project if the initially selected candidate withdraws.
