ERA Chairs Group Leader position
at the International Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology in Warsaw, Poland
The International Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology in Warsaw (IIMCB) invites applications for the position of a Group Leader with a planned starting date in November 2019.
IIMCB provides stimulating and interdisciplinary research environment and opportunities of the large biomedical campus with the possibilities of selecting PhD students and postdoctoral scientists from leading Polish academic institutions. The Institute is equipped with state-of-the-art technology, has excellent core facilities and supportive administration, including a grant office. IIMCB benefits from numerous generous funding schemes for basic research through grants from international and national sources (www.iimcb.gov.pl/en/research/grants).
We are searching for a senior group leader, an excellent mid-career investigator with a PhD degree, outstanding and transformative research accomplishments and demonstrated leadership experience. The successful candidate should be conducting high-level research that would expand and build on the existing strengths of the Institute in the fields of intracellular trafficking, mTOR pathways, calcium and iron homeostasis, DNA repair and modification, RNA structure-function relationships, and gene regulation during embryonic development. Moreover, he/she is also expected to develop new research ideas and provide intellectual leadership in building the IIMCB renown on the international scene.
The position is funded through the H2020 ERA Chairs project MOSaIC, Project ID: 810425.

Besides the offer described in the section above, the new Group Leader and his/her team will be fully integrated in the international and supportive environment of IIMCB. The Group Leader will be engaged on full-time employment contract including full social and insurance package according to the national legislation. He/she will benefit from IIMCB bonuses in the framework of the internal social fund and a private medical care package. These benefits will also apply to other group members, depending on their type of employment. Candidates should hold a PhD degree and will be evaluated based on the following criteria:
Proven leadership experience
Coherence of the proposed research plan with the IIMCB profile
The successful candidate will be selected in an open international competition conducted by the members of IIMCB International Advisory Board (IAB). The recruitment procedure will comply fully with the rules of the European Charter for Researchers and the Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers to which IIMCB adheres. The selection process will comprise the following stages:

- Interviews with shortlisted candidates on 21-22 of March, 2019.
- Start of employment from 1st of November, 2019.

IIMCB is looking for an excellent mid-career investigator with a PhD degree, outstanding research accomplishments and demonstrated leadership experience. The successful candidate should be conducting a high-level research programme in molecular signalling in health and disease that should expand and build on the existing strengths of the institution. We will welcome scientists whose expertise will strengthen the links between ongoing projects at IIMCB, such as intracellular trafficking, mTOR pathways, calcium and iron homeostasis, DNA repair and modification, RNA structure-function relationships, and gene regulation during embryonic development. Moreover, he/she is also expected to develop new research ideas and provide intellectual leadership in building the IIMCB renown on the international scene.
The selected Group Leader is expected to autonomously build, supervise and mentor his/her research group. They are expected to generate excellent research results and contribute to the overall position of IIMCB in local, regional, and European scientific landscape. The new Group Leader is expected to secure research funding from prestigious European and national granting institutions, nurture long-lasting partnerships with best European and foreign research and innovation centres, and disseminate research results through highly valued publications in international journals.
